One of ’’Hizb ut-Tahrir’’ leaders arrested in Kyrgyzstan

On September 16 of this year, a member of the extremist organization ’’Hizb ut-Tahrir’’ was detained in Kyrgyzstan, the 24.kg reported.
He was the head of one of the group’s cells. The detainee, identified as M.K., born in 1986, had been spreading extremist ideas and recruiting new supporters.
It was revealed that he had previously faced criminal charges for extremist activities.
During a search of his residence, religious literature of extremist content was found. The seized materials are currently undergoing the necessary examinations.
The detainee was placed in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security. Operational measures are currently underway to identify other members of the group.
The State Committee for National Security has warned that the establishment of and participation in religious extremist organizations are subject to criminal liability under Articles 330, 331, and 332 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.
It is worth noting that earlier, a major branch of the extremist organization ’’Hizb ut-Tahrir,’’ including its leaders and 22 members, was detained in the city of Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan.
