In July of this year, an Uzbek citizen was detained near the Jetisu border post in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region while attempting to illegally cross the border into Russia. The Uspensky District Court reported the incident.
The individual was found just 80 meters from the border line and was apprehended by border guards from Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee.
His guilt was confirmed through his own testimony, an administrative offense report, and other case materials.
The court found the Uzbek citizen guilty under Article 514 of Kazakhstan’s Code of Administrative Offenses (border violation) and sentenced him to 9 days of administrative detention. The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
It is worth noting that a 450-meter underground tunnel used for smuggling oil products was previously discovered in the same border area between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
