Man jailed for molesting a woman on the metro

A man has been jailed for touching a woman below the waist inside a metro carriage between the Pakhtakor and Novza stations of the Tashkent Metro on March 6. QALAMPIR.UZ reviewed the court documents.

According to the case materials, the incident took place on March 6 inside a metro carriage in the capital, between Pakhtakor and Novza stations. The 27-year-old man, a native of Namangan region, repeatedly touched the woman’s body and sexually harassed her.

The defendant partially admitted guilt, claiming that the physical contact had been accidental and caused by overcrowding in the metro carriage. He also expressed remorse for his actions.

The Chilonzor District Criminal Court found the man guilty under Article 41-1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which covers sexual harassment, and sentenced him to five days of administrative detention.

It is worth noting that earlier, a man who harassed an underage girl on a bus in Chirchiq, Tashkent region, was sentenced to 10 days in detention.
