Man arrested for selling 45 million soums in counterfeit cash for 18 million

A man has been detained in Namangan region for selling 45 million soums in counterfeit money for 18 million soums, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

According to the statement, during an оперативe operation a previously convicted individual under Article 176 of the Criminal Code was caught red-handed selling counterfeit banknotes worth a total of 45 million soums in 100,000 and 200,000 soum denominations to a citizen identified as M.Kh. He was detained with material evidence.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 176 of the Criminal Code (counterfeiting money, excise stamps or securities and their circulation), and investigative actions are underway.

Earlier, authorities reported that a person in Sardoba district of Syrdarya region had been identified after purchasing five head of cattle using counterfeit US dollars.
