Theater employees detained for bribery in Namangan (video)

In Yanginamangan district of Namangan region, individuals who demanded an $800 bribe in exchange for processing salary-related documentation have been detained, the regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the report, on January 12 this year, the Namangan Regional Department of Internal Affairs received a complaint regarding the Alisher Navoi Musical Drama Theater. The complaint stated that employees of the theater’s human resources department had promised to formalize work experience records for two relatives of the complainant and assist them in qualifying for age-related pensions. In return, they demanded $400 for each person, totaling $800.

Following the complaint, law enforcement officers conducted a special operation. During the operation, the suspects were detained with material evidence while receiving the chemically marked $800 from the complainant inside the administrative building of the Alisher Navoi Musical Drama Theater in Namangan city.

A criminal case has been initiated by the investigation department under the Namangan City Department of Internal Affairs under Article 25 and Article 168, Part 2 (fraud), as well as Article 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. Preliminary investigative actions are currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier reports said an ecology official in Tashkent region was detained while receiving $3,000 in exchange for authorizing the cutting of long-standing trees.
