Water finally reaches Naiman!

Local

In just one day, the long-standing water issue faced by residents of Naiman village has been addressed—well, almost. After QALAMPIR.UZ published a video and article titled “Thirst: A village that drinks water on credit,” officials from relevant government bodies in the Gallaorol district of the Jizzakh region responded promptly and provided a temporary solution.

“The water supply from the Marjonbulok mine was cut off due to unpaid debt. After settling the debt and fixing damaged sections of the pipes, water began to flow again. It now runs for four to five hours a day. Officials from the administration and the leadership of Jizzakh Water Supply JSC were on-site even at night,” said Sherzod Abdusalomov, Chief Engineer of the Gallaorol district branch of “Uzsuvta’minot.”

Naiman village does not have its own dedicated drinking water infrastructure. Several years ago, a water supply from the Marjonbulok mine was connected to the village under a contract-based arrangement.

“In Naiman, over 200 households were paying 1.5 million soums monthly. Due to delays in payment, the service was cut. Neither the mahalla committee nor our district officials took the necessary measures when the disconnection happened. After the issue gained attention on social media, we addressed the technical failures and restored the water supply,” explained Akbar Mamarajabov, Deputy Governor of Gallaorol for construction affairs.

Officials emphasized that this is only a temporary solution, promising a more permanent fix soon—namely, installing drinking water taps on every street and in every household.

“On July 15, QALAMPIR.UZ released a video about the water situation in Naiman. That same night and the following day, our neighborhood received water. God willing, we will continue to petition the higher authorities until proper pipelines and infrastructure are built,” said Bolbek Khursanov, chairman of the Mirzabuloq village citizens’ assembly.

Another resident expressed gratitude while recalling the hardship of drinking salty water in the past.

“We used to drink salty water and constantly got sick—blood pressure, kidney problems, liver issues. Now, there’s finally water. But my health is poor, and there are no young people at home to fetch water. The girls are away, the boys are at work. I'm running now just because I heard there's water. Thanks to the organizations that brought this supply. Still, it would be much better if water were available on every street. This tap is nearby for us, but for people living in the lower part of the village, it’s far and difficult to reach. I have a small child and elderly parents at home—it’s not easy,” she said.

Following the video’s publication, Gallaorol district governor Jaloliddin Oqboyev, his deputies, and Jizzakh Water Supply JSC head Hamid Hasanov visited the village and spoke with residents.

“The officials made promises. They said they would bring water from the Qorabuloq source and from a cottage in the Khonaqoh village. Even the hokim confirmed this. The district team worked overnight to pump water. Now, it flows from this tap to houses 1.5 kilometers away. People collect water here and carry it in carts. Still, we finally have water in our village. No more walking 7 or even 23 kilometers for a drink,” said village elder Akmal Usanov.

This is how it should be! It shouldn't take years—just a single day of action to solve the people’s problems. So why did it take so long?

“Everything depends on funding. Of course, things take time. We’ve submitted proposals for next year’s program. For the 2026 development plan, we've included the Mirzabuloq rural citizens’ assembly and the Naiman drinking water project. We've also contacted the regional water utility, which responded by helping us eliminate the current deficiencies. We plan to submit full proposals today or tomorrow. Our goal is to provide Naiman village with centralized water supply this year,” said Deputy Hokim Akbar Mamarajabov.

According to the press service of Jizzakh Water Supply JSC, design and planning work is underway to construct a 7.6 km internal and 2.9 km central pipeline across six streets of the Naiman village. Construction and installation are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
