A group of 18 individuals influenced by religious extremist movements and the ideological propaganda of international terrorist organizations has been identified in the Gallaorol district of Jizzakh region, the Jizzakh Regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the report, during an operational operation conducted jointly by officers of the Jizzakh Regional Department of Internal Affairs and the regional department of the State Security Service, it was established that a citizen born in 2001, residing in the Jiydali neighborhood of Gallaorol district and currently studying at a higher education institution in Tashkent, had created a Telegram group together with another individual born in 2002 and living in the Oqtosh neighborhood of the same district.
It was further revealed that around 18 individuals residing in the Jiydali, G‘ubdin, Lalmikor, Navruz, Navbahor, Khoja Kabud, and Yashnobod neighborhoods of the district were involved. Through the formation of a virtual community, extremist ideas were discussed and various types of content were exchanged among members.
Through these groups, the participants distributed audio and video materials of a religious nature that are prohibited by law and associated with the ideological propaganda of religious extremist movements and international terrorist organizations.
As a result of the operation, the two main suspects were detained in accordance with procedural requirements, and a criminal case was initiated against them under Article 244-2, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (establishing, leading, or participating in religious extremist, separatist, fundamentalist, or other prohibited organizations). In addition, nine individuals were placed under administrative arrest. Preventive conversations were conducted with seven others, during which the requirements of the law and the legal consequences of such actions were explained in detail.
It is worth noting that earlier reports stated that 18-year-old individuals were detained in Andijan region for organizing discussions related to “martyrdom” and “jihad.”
