The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has penalized the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) for violating organizational rules, according to an announcement on the AFC’s official website.

It was reported that on June 10, during the Uzbekistan–Qatar match at the Bunyodkor stadium, the UFA breached Article 11.13 of the AFC Regulations on the management of international matches. This article allows the AFC to review sponsorship contracts to verify sponsorship rights. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in the rejection of the relevant request.

The AFC strictly requires that, for every match, the host must ensure that no brands other than those of its official sponsors appear anywhere in the stadium.

The UFA reportedly violated the rule by bringing vehicles under the BYD brand, an official sponsor not recognized by the AFC, onto the field after the match against Qatar.

The association explained that it submitted the relevant request to the AFC late, which led to the imposition of the fine.

The $340,000 penalty must be paid within 30 days from the date of the sanction, in accordance with Article 11.3 of the AFC Disciplinary and Code of conduct regulations.
