Fight until the end, Shavkat Mirziyoyev tells players

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished the national football team good luck during a meeting with the players today, May 22. Presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov reported this.

Addressing the players, the President emphasized that they had already made history, but still needed to fight until the end.

“Now I want to address the players: there are no easy matches at the World Cup. You will play against teams such as Portugal, Colombia and Congo. Naturally, our people will expect victory from you in every match. But always remember one thing: you have already made history!

In the important matches ahead, play without unnecessary pressure, without fearing anyone and by giving everything you have. Fight until the end for every ball, every moment and every inch of the pitch,” Mirziyoyev said.

The head of state also said the entire country would support the team and watch their matches on screen.

“In all your World Cup matches, fan club members, thousands of football supporters and our compatriots in America will support you from the stadium.

Nearly 40 million of our people will watch your every move on the field with great excitement from behind their screens, experiencing emotions that stir the heart.

Remember: our people believe in you, and the President believes in you. Go and play bravely, defend the honor of the Motherland with dignity. May victory and good fortune always be with you,” the President said at the end of his remarks.
