Earlier on January 6, Uzbekistan Airports reported a partial power outage at Tashkent International Airport. Uzbekistan National Electric Networks JSC has denied the claim that a minor malfunction occurred at the Kuylyuk substation and clarified the actual cause of the outage.

Uzbekistan National Electric Networks JSC issued an official statement to prevent misinterpretation of the information by the media and the public. According to the statement, the power outage was caused by a short circuit in an electrical facility, specifically a cable, under the control of Tashkent International Airport.

For reference, the external power supply of Tashkent International Airport under the standard scheme is provided via four 35 kV cable lines—L-Airport-2, L-Airport-4, and L-Airport-5—from the Kuylyuk substation, as well as the 35 kV L-Airport-1 line from the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant.

On January 2 at 10:20 a.m., the 35 kV L-Airport-2 and L-Airport-4 cable lines were disconnected due to an emergency shutdown. On January 4 at 6:13 p.m., the L-Airport-2 line was restored. The L-Airport-4 cable line is currently undergoing repairs.

In addition, on January 4 at 1:47 a.m., the 35 kV L-Airport-1 cable line was disconnected due to an emergency. This line was restored on January 5 at 5:27 p.m. These 35 kV cable lines are under the ownership of the consumer, namely Tashkent International Airport.

To clarify the situation, QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the press service of Uzbekistan Airports JSC. The company confirmed that the power outage was indeed caused by a short circuit in a cable under the control of Tashkent International Airport. However, Uzbekistan Airports emphasized that maintenance and monitoring of these cables are carried out by Uzbekistan National Electric Networks JSC.
