Shavkat Mirziyoyev concludes visit to Pakistan

Today, February 6, the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan concluded with a full program of events. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.

During his visit to Islamabad, the President of Uzbekistan held detailed talks with the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif. The discussions focused on further strengthening the friendship and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as well as expanding practical cooperation in politics, trade and economics, investment, transport, logistics, and humanitarian fields.

At the conclusion of the high-level talks, a substantial package of bilateral agreements was signed, aimed at deepening cooperation in priority areas and implementing joint projects.

In addition, meetings were held with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army Asim Munir, and with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

During his two-day visit, the Uzbek President also participated in the Uzbekistan–Pakistan Business Forum and met with representatives of Pakistan’s leading business circles.

At the “Aiwan-e-Sadr” residence, a ceremony was held to award the President of Uzbekistan with Pakistan’s highest state honor, the “Nishan-e-Pakistan” (Order of Pakistan).

Moreover, the Uzbek leader was awarded honorary titles of Doctor and Professor by one of Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions.

One of the streets in Pakistan’s capital was named “Tashkent,” and a newly established park was named after Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, symbolizing the shared historical heritage and the growing friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Following the conclusion of the state visit, President Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent. At Nur Khan Airport, the distinguished guest was seen off by Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Special Advisor – Minister of Industry and Production, Haroon Akhtar, along with other officials.
