A man from Samarkand who worked as a paramedic at a military hospital of the Russian Armed Forces for two years has been sentenced to four years of restriction of liberty. QALAMPIR.UZ reviewed the court ruling.

According to the materials, the case was heard on December 24, 2025, at the Payariq District Criminal Court. During the hearing, the defendant, identified as S.B., pleaded guilty. He stated that on May 1, 2023, he traveled to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the Russian Federation for employment purposes. Initially, he found work as a paramedic at a private clinic. However, due to unsatisfactory working conditions, he began looking for another job. He then learned from acquaintances that paramedics were being recruited into the Russian Armed Forces, that foreign nationals were also being accepted, and that the monthly salary was 210,000 rubles.

He subsequently applied to join the Russian Armed Forces. Later, S.B. received a fax notification stating that his application had been approved and that he was required to travel to the city of Belgrade. He then went to Belgrade, settled there, and rested for three days. During this period, the chief physician of the military hospital held a single interview with him, asking about his place of origin, personal background, education, professional qualifications, and work experience. Two days after the interview, the man was hired and worked as a paramedic for two years at Military Unit No. 11740. During his service, in January 2025, he was issued citizenship of the Russian Federation, a military service certificate confirming his service status, and a military identification tag.

In July 2025, after learning that a criminal case had been opened against him in Uzbekistan, he went on leave from military service on October 8, 2025. Realizing that his actions constituted a criminal offense, he returned to Uzbekistan during his leave in order to face punishment. Prior to returning, he burned the documents issued to him by the Russian side.

The court found the defendant guilty under Article 154-1, Part 2 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to four years of restriction of liberty under this provision.

It is worth noting that earlier, an Andijan resident who participated in the war in Ukraine on the Russian side was sentenced to two years of restriction of liberty.
