First meeting of the U.S.–Uzbekistan Business Council held

On February 7, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva met in Tashkent with the U.S. Special Representative for South and Central Asia, Ambassador Sergio Gor. The U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan reported this.
According to the embassy, the inaugural meeting of the U.S.–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council has been concluded. During her meeting with Sergio Gor, Saida Mirziyoyeva discussed, among other issues, ways to strengthen commercial diplomacy between the two countries.
Saida Mirziyoyeva also shared her views on the meeting and talks via her Telegram channel.
“I am pleased to announce that the first meeting of the U.S.–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was held with the participation of Special Representative and Ambassador Sergio Gor. The discussions were productive and forward-looking. Significant and substantive work lies ahead in key areas of strategic importance for both countries,” she wrote.
It is worth noting that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to the United States on November 6–7, 2025. During the visit, the Uzbek leader held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump and took part in the C5+1 summit involving the leaders of Central Asian countries and the United States. Following the visit, the U.S.–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was established.
The council’s activities are jointly overseen by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, and Sergio Gor, the U.S. President’s Special Representative for South and Central Asia. Former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Komil Allamjonov was appointed as Counselor-Envoy of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States and Representative of the Presidential Administration in the U.S.
Earlier, on October 25, 2025, Sergio Gor arrived in Uzbekistan together with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. On October 26, the U.S. officials familiarized themselves with Uzbekistan’s rich history and culture. Photos released by the embassy showed visits to the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and the Chorsu market. They were accompanied by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov and U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick.
On October 27, Saida Mirziyoyeva met with Sergio Gor. According to her statement, senior representatives of the U.S. administration noted the pace and scale of reforms carried out in Uzbekistan over the past eight years under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Following this, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the delegation led by Special Representative Sergio Gor. At the conclusion of the meeting, Gor presented a number of gifts sent by President Trump to the Uzbek leader.
