Today, February 27, a presentation was held at the newly established Road Traffic Management Center on addressing traffic congestion and environmental issues in Tashkent, as well as improving public transport oversight. Saida Mirziyoyeva announced this on her Telegram channel.

According to the statement, efforts to modernize the transport system are being carried out in accordance with the presidential decree of December 5, 2025, “On Additional Measures to Improve Transport System Management in Tashkent and Prevent Traffic Congestion.”

It was added that in the coming days work will begin on installing “smart” traffic lights, marking roads in line with established standards, and properly organizing parking facilities.

“I hope that the team led by the city mayor will dedicate all its efforts and capabilities to ensuring the full implementation of the decision. I will personally monitor its execution. I wish the team success in implementing this project, which is extremely important and necessary for the capital,” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.

Earlier, it was reported that necessary measures were being taken in Tashkent to prevent, detect, and eliminate illegal street racing at night. In addition, at the initiative of the Ministry of Justice, a draft law was developed providing for administrative and criminal liability for organizing and participating in illegal races.

It was also previously reported that a 10th-grade student in Tashkent struck a road patrol service inspector with a BMW vehicle.
