Reports have circulated on social media claiming that a 15-year-old boy was married in Samarkand Region. The Children’s Ombudsman has commented on the situation.
According to the findings, the video was posted on social media by a resident of the Pastdargom District of Samarkand Region, identified as N.A., a man born in 1983. The initial footage shown in the video was recorded at a wedding ceremony held in a wedding hall in Pastdargom District in November 2025. Subsequent scenes allegedly depicting underage individuals seated on stage as a bride and groom were filmed at a different wedding venue in the same district.
No wedding involving children took place at the location shown in the video footage featuring minors. It was established that N.A. combined the two separate recordings and edited them into a single video. The individual reportedly created and shared the video on social media in order to increase the number of his followers.
It was reported that a pre-investigation review is currently being conducted by the Pastdargom District Department of Internal Affairs, and a legal assessment is being made of N.A.’s actions. Additional information will be provided following the completion of the legal procedures.
It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that fines for entering into marriage with minors in Uzbekistan may be significantly increased.
