Wife pays alimony to free husband from prison in Samarkand

In the Pastdargom district of Samarkand region, a husband sentenced to 15 days in administrative detention for failing to pay alimony was released after his wife paid off the debt herself. The information was provided by Jaloliddin Sherboev, senior inspector of the regional Enforcement Bureau.

According to reports, the woman, living in the same household as her husband, had previously obtained alimony through court proceedings. Following another family dispute, the husband was held administratively liable and sentenced to 15 days in detention for failing to fulfill his alimony obligations.

As managing the household without her spouse became increasingly difficult, the woman paid the outstanding alimony in full and appealed to the court. On the fifth day, the court annulled the detention order, and the husband was released.

It is reported that the couple has since reconciled and is focusing on raising their children.

It is worth noting that earlier, a 34-year-old man reportedly killed his wife and 2-year-old daughter over an alimony dispute in the Uzbek district of Nursuh in the Fergana region.
