Illegal electricity use worth 2.1 billion soums uncovered in Samarkand farm

A farm that illegally consumed 2.1 billion soums worth of electricity has been identified in the Kattakurgan district of the Samarkand region. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the report, during a preliminary investigation carried out by the regional office of the department in Samarkand, it was revealed that the head of the "M.A." farm, identified as G.R., had unlawfully tapped into the power grid. He allegedly connected water pumps directly to the grid without authorization and used the electricity for commercial purposes, resulting in losses amounting to 2.1 billion soums.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 169 of the Criminal Code (theft), and investigative proceedings are currently underway.

For reference, a similar case was previously uncovered in the Khorezm region, where a limited liability company was found to have illegally used 2.2 billion soums worth of electricity.
