President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on June 16, with John Jovanovic, President and Chair of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and Ben Black, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, as part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The presidential press service reported this.
At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking guests conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from U.S. President Donald Trump to the Head of State.
During the talks, the parties thoroughly considered issues related to the participation of these institutions in financing high-tech strategic projects in Uzbekistan, including infrastructure development, the development of critical minerals, energy, the introduction of artificial intelligence and digitalization.
In cooperation with the U.S. Eximbank, an agreement was reached to accelerate joint projects to modernize the energy sector. Special attention was paid to further developing the provision of export credits for initiatives by local entrepreneurs in priority areas.
The initiatives of the DFC to support healthcare projects and launch a joint investment platform aimed at modernizing the energy sector and infrastructure were also supported.
The need to move to the practical stage of implementing major infrastructure projects was emphasized, including the construction of a new international airport in Tashkent, the creation of a modern medical complex in Fergana region, the launch of a digital bank, and the establishment of data centers and dry ports.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to adopt a joint roadmap to promote the investment and technology projects discussed.
Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Albania Bajram Begaj planted a tree together in the Alley of Honored Guests.
