Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulates Fabio Cannavaro

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Uzbekistan national football team coach Fabio Cannavaro during a meeting with the team today, May 22. Presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov reported this.

According to the report, it was noted during the meeting that the national team is being guided by a coaching staff led by Fabio Cannavaro, who has vast experience and a champion’s mentality.

“Taking this opportunity, I congratulate Fabio Cannavaro on his first participation in the World Cup as a coach and wish the coaching staff new victories,” the President said.

For reference, the Italy national team captained by Cannavaro won the World Cup held in Germany in 2006. That same year, Cannavaro was recognized as the best player in the world and became one of the few defenders in football history to win the Ballon d’Or.

It was also noted that the new coach brought in specialists for physical training and forwards, as well as doctors, a nutritionist and chefs, forming a strong team with international experience.

Earlier, during the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that corruption and favoritism had been eliminated from Uzbekistan’s football system.
