Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrives in Pakistan escorted by fighter jets (video)

On February 5, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Islamabad on a state visit, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.

According to the press service, the presidential aircraft was escorted by fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force while flying through Pakistan’s airspace.

At Nur Khan Air Base, President Mirziyoyev was welcomed by President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials.

The national flags of both countries were raised, and an honor guard was formed.

Under the program of the visit, talks are scheduled for February 5 with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, as well as with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council will also take place.

On February 6, President Mirziyoyev is expected to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and take part in the Uzbekistan–Pakistan business forum.
