Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets Pakistan Army Chief

On February 5, following his arrival in Islamabad, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the headquarters of Global Industrial and Defence Solutions, where he held a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to the press service of the Uzbek leader.
The meeting focused on key aspects of further developing the multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation in the military and military-technical fields, as well as coordinating efforts to counter current security threats and challenges.
The sides emphasized the importance of strengthening industrial cooperation between leading defense enterprises of the two countries, expanding training programs for military personnel, promoting the exchange of experience, and conducting joint exercises.

Issues related to accelerating the implementation of promising infrastructure projects in the transport and logistics sector were also discussed.
The parties reached an agreement to develop a separate roadmap for advancing military and military-technical cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the developments of Global Industrial and Defence Solutions, including samples of Pakistan’s modern military equipment and weapons.
Earlier, it was reported that President Mirziyoyev arrived in Pakistan accompanied by fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force. At Nur Khan Air Base, he was welcomed by President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials.
