Today, April 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the reconstructed State Museum of the History of the Timurids on the occasion of the 690th anniversary of the birth of Sahibqiran Amir Temur. This was reported by the presidential press service.

It is well known that Sahibqiran, who united Movarounnahr into a single state, founded a powerful empire with its capital in Samarkand. Through his world-famous work Temur Tuzuklari, he established the legal principles of state governance. He also made an unparalleled contribution to the development of science and culture and laid the foundation for the Second Renaissance — the Timurid Renaissance.

The priceless monuments built during his era continue to serve as a source of national pride and an immortal historical legacy for the Uzbek people. Amir Temur’s wise words, “Let justice be our companion and guide in every matter,” are clearly reflected today in the reforms being carried out in New Uzbekistan.

To widely celebrate the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur’s birth, the President signed a relevant resolution on February 5 this year. Under the document, every April will be declared the “Month of Amir Temur,” during which meetings, roundtable discussions, and educational events will be held in educational institutions, research centers, and mahallas with the participation of scholars of Timurid studies, writers, and artists.

As part of the implementation of the resolution, the building of the State Museum of the History of the Timurids was reconstructed using the most advanced practices of the world’s leading museums and equipped with modern facilities. Its capabilities were expanded through digitalization, and its exhibitions were updated, including with exhibits purchased from collections abroad.

In particular, the museum’s first floor now features a section titled “The Great Sahibqiran — Founder of the Second Renaissance.” The second floor houses interactive exhibitions about the era of Amir Temur and the Timurids, created on the basis of artificial intelligence and smart technologies. Three-dimensional exhibits and maps are also on display.

While reviewing the museum’s updated exhibition and the conditions created for visitors, the head of state emphasized the importance of studying, preserving, and promoting the legacy of the ancestors.

“We have a history and heritage worthy of the world’s admiration. It is good that the museum dedicated to Sahibqiran’s history has been given a new appearance befitting the times. Now our greatest task is to convey this to our people, our youth, and foreign guests. If you ask where the knowledge needed to elevate New Uzbekistan can be found, all of it is in the heritage and knowledge left by our ancestors. Therefore, we must bring our young people, our elders, and in general our population to museums on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis and increase their knowledge of our great history,” the head of state said.

During the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev left a note in the guest book of the State Museum of the History of the Timurids.

It is worth noting that earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Amir Temur Square in Tashkent and laid a wreath at the foot of Amir Temur’s monument.
