Today, April 11, after arriving in Uzbekistan on a working visit, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, together with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the mausoleum of Bahauddin Naqshband. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.
Located 12 kilometers from the ancient city of Bukhara, the complex is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the region. It is the burial place of the prominent 14th-century scholar Bahauddin Naqshband, the founder of the Naqshbandi order.

The religious and spiritual values of the Uzbek and Kazakh peoples are shared. Saints and scholars who lived in Uzbekistan are also deeply revered in Kazakhstan. Bahauddin Naqshband is one of those revered figures.

The ensemble took shape over the centuries and today includes the mausoleum, a khanqah built by Abdulaziz Khan for pilgrims, two mosques, a burial vault containing the remains of rulers of the Shaybanid, Ashtarkhanid and Manghit dynasties, as well as a museum dedicated to the history of Sufism.

At the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, the complex has been further improved and its historical appearance restored. In particular, the historic path leading from the Toqi Miyona Gate has been renovated. The areas on both sides of the gate have been turned into gardens. A museum and ablution facilities have also been built. In addition, restoration work is underway at the madrasa built by Daniyalbiy, the ataliq of Bukhara from the Manghit dynasty.

During the visit, verses from the Quran were recited and prayers were offered for peace and prosperity for the fraternal peoples.

It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit at the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The high-ranking guest was welcomed by the President of Uzbekistan at Bukhara International Airport.
