On November 17, following high-level talks at the Kuksaroy residence in Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan took part in the official launch ceremony of the “Shovot–Toshhovuz” Joint Border Trade Zone. The information was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
The new zone includes administrative buildings for the directorate, customs, quarantine, phytosanitary and veterinary services, as well as a trade pavilion and warehouses.

State services will be provided on-site under the “one-stop shop” principle. The area is equipped with interactive systems and necessary infrastructure for banking, medical and hotel services, along with a large parking area.
The zone is expected to boost trade and economic cooperation between the two key regions — Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region and Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region — with a combined population of more than 3.5 million people.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Tashkent on November 16 for a state visit and attended the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders at the International Congress Center. On November 17, President Mirziyoyev and President Berdimuhamedov held talks in a restricted format, followed by expanded negotiations with the participation of both countries’ official delegations.
