In the Termez district of Surxondaryo region, a man was detained for promising a citizen 623 million soums in compensation for a house that was demolished. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the report, during an urgent operation carried out in cooperation between the Termez district department and the State Security Service, O.A., who unofficially worked at a private company (“B.D.”) engaged in appraisal activities, gained the trust of a citizen, D.B. He allegedly took advantage of the fact that D.B.’s house in Mustaqillik Mahalla was slated for demolition and promised to expedite the payment of 623 million soums compensation through his high-level connections. In exchange, he received 900 USD and 1 million soums in cash and was caught with material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 (Fraud) and Articles 28 and 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code and has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

It is worth noting that earlier, a man was detained in the Samarkand region for attempting to illegally send citizens to the United States via Mexico. He gained the trust of three individuals residing in Samarkand city and Urgut district, and while arranging the necessary documents, demanded a total of $96,000, $32,000 from each person, in exchange for sending them to the U.S. through Mexico.
