Earlier, it was reported that in Uzun District of Surkhandarya Region, a man subjected his wife and their newborn child to abuse and violence and forcibly kept them in a cowshed for five months. A court verdict has now been issued against those who treated the woman and her child in a brutal manner. Supreme Court spokesperson Aziz Obidov reported this.

According to the information, on August 26 last year, law enforcement authorities received a report that an unidentified woman was being forcibly held in unsanitary conditions in a cowshed by the homeowners in one of the mahallas of Uzun District. Based on this report, a mahalla prevention inspector urgently arrived at the scene and, despite resistance from the homeowners, broke open the door of the cowshed. As a result, it was established that the homeowner, born in 1981, had been forcibly keeping his wife, born in 1997, and their five-month-old son in harsh conditions inside the cowshed. The victims were immediately taken to a medical facility.

During the investigation, it was determined that the homeowner, together with his mother and close relatives living in the same household, had conspired in advance and exploited the woman’s mental condition, including her speech impairment and difficulty expressing her thoughts. Over several months, they subjected her to pressure and violence and secretly confined her in the household’s cowshed against her will.

By the verdict of the Uzun District Criminal Court, A.Sh. was found guilty under Article 126-1 (domestic violence), Article 127 (involving a minor in antisocial behavior), Articles 25 and 135 (human trafficking), and Article 138 (illegal deprivation of liberty through the use of violence) of the Criminal Code.

In addition, M.Sh. (female, born in 1975), K.Sh. (female, born in 1978), and Z.A. (female, born in 1951), all residents of Surkhandarya Region, were found guilty under Article 104 (intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm), Article 127 (involving a minor in antisocial behavior), Articles 25 and 135 (human trafficking), and Article 138 (illegal deprivation of liberty through the use of violence).

Under the court’s ruling, A.Sh. was sentenced to 13 years in prison, M.Sh. and K.Sh. to nine years in prison each, while Z.A. was sentenced to five years of restriction of liberty.
