Three young men drown while swimming in Surkhandarya

Three of six young men who went swimming in the Surkhan River in the Namuna mahalla of Jarkurgan district, Surkhandarya region, drowned, the regional Department of Emergency Situations reported.

According to the report, six young men born in 2008 and living in the mahalla went to the river to swim. The strong current swept away three of them.

One of the young men did not enter the water. The other five entered the river to swim. Citizens nearby immediately rushed to help and managed to rescue two of the young men who had fallen into the water.

Divers from the special rescue service quickly arrived at the scene.

On the same day, divers from the special rescue service recovered the body of one citizen from the water. On June 9, another body was found. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to find the body of one more citizen.

Earlier, it was reported that one person drowned after a boat overturned in a reservoir in Kumkurgan district, Surkhandarya region.
