The Mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, has allocated over 8 billion sums for road repairs in the capital’s Mirzo Ulugbek and Bektemir districts. The decision was made on April 7.
According to the resolution, 4.23 billion sums were allocated to the Mirzo Ulugbek District Improvement Department, while 3.8 billion sums were directed to the Bektemir District Improvement Department. The funds were drawn from the Tashkent City Development Fund to cover road maintenance and repair expenses.

The resolution states: “Together with the First Deputy Mayor of Tashkent, Bakhtiyor Rakhmonov, Mirzo Ulugbek District Mayor Bohodir Gaibnazarov, Bektemir District Mayor Nurilla Abdurakhmanov, and the District Improvement Departments, the targeted spending of the allocated funds must be ensured in accordance with the established procedure. Reports on the use of funds and the volume of completed work must be submitted to the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies and the Tashkent City Government. The First Deputy Mayor of Tashkent, Bakhtiyor Khaydarov, shall be responsible for overseeing the implementation of this resolution.”
It is worth noting that at a meeting held in September 2023, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that budget funds for internal road construction and repair in Uzbekistan would be distributed exclusively through the “My Road” program.
"Now our people will decide where to build and repair internal roads. This will ensure transparency in project selection, quality control, and full public oversight," the President emphasized.
