Videos have been circulating on social media showing Khairullo Rakhmonov, a judge of the Tashkent regional court, allegedly hosting a lavish celebration for his minor child’s birthday. The footage shows well-known performers entertaining guests at the event. The Supreme Council of Judges has issued a statement regarding the matter.

According to the Council, a service check was conducted to investigate the claims. The inquiry revealed that the celebration took place at the home of one of the judge’s relatives, and neither the yard shown in the video nor the minor child mentioned in the reports belong to Judge Rakhmonov.

“The judge lives with his family in an apartment in a multi-storey building. All of his children are adults, and his youngest child is 22 years old,” the statement read.

The case materials have been submitted to the Judicial Ethics Commission to determine whether Rakhmonov’s presence at the family gathering or his behavior outside of work breached the Code of Judicial Ethics.

Under Article 62 of the Law “On Courts,” judges are required to follow the Code of Judicial Ethics both while exercising their powers and in their personal lives. They must avoid actions that could damage the reputation of the judiciary, undermine their honor and dignity, or raise doubts about their impartiality and fairness.

It is worth noting that a similar controversy arose last year when videos surfaced of Economy and Finance Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov hosting a lavish wedding for his daughter. The video showed the minister congratulating his daughter Sevinch and her husband Saidali Ubaidullaev at an elaborately decorated venue, though the exact location was not disclosed.
