A total of 14 billion soums will be allocated for road repair works in Tashkent. This is stipulated in a resolution signed on April 17 by the city mayor, Shavkat Umurzakov, titled “On Financing the Repair of Certain Roads in Tashkent City.”
According to the report, the funds will be allocated from the city development fund and used to cover expenses related to road repairs.
Under the resolution, 12 billion soums will be distributed equally among the capital’s 12 districts, with each district receiving 1 billion soums. An additional 2 billion soums will be allocated to the department responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of central roads.
Oversight of the implementation of the resolution has been assigned to the First Deputy Mayor of Tashkent for construction, accessibility, infrastructure development, ecology, and landscaping, Baxtiyor Rahmonov.
For reference, last year 12 billion soums were also allocated from the same fund for road repairs and distributed equally among the districts.
It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that 61 trillion soums had been allocated for road construction and repair in Uzbekistan over the past seven years.
