Man arrested in Tashkent for stealing a car (video)

A man who stole a car in Tashkent has been detained, the city’s Main Department of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the suspect, he committed the act because he had run out of money and intended to steal something to make a living. Taking advantage of the fact that the car was unlocked and the key was left in the ignition, he drove it away. After reaching the Chirchiq river area in the Bektemir district, he took two monitors, a dash camera, a flashlight, and a bag from the vehicle before abandoning the car and fleeing the scene.

“I regret what I did. I would not advise anyone else to do such a thing. It was wrong. I didn’t realize the consequences. I ask for forgiveness and promise this will never happen again. I truly repent,” he said.

According to the police, the suspect had previously been convicted.

A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 267, Part 2, Paragraph (g) of the Criminal Code (unauthorized taking of a motor vehicle). He has been placed in pretrial detention, and investigative proceedings are ongoing.

Earlier, it was reported that in Syrdarya region, two young men who stole a Cobalt car stabbed a police officer in Tashkent region after being stopped by law enforcement.
