A two-level overpass will be built at the intersection of Mustaqillik Avenue, Mirzo Ulug‘bek Street, and Buyuk Ipak Yo‘li Street in Tashkent, the city administration said.
According to the report, the overpass will be constructed near the Buyuk Ipak Yo‘li metro station. A BRT route will be launched along Mirzo Ulug‘bek Street and will be connected to the route on Shota Rustaveli Street through Mustaqillik and Shahrisabz streets. A tunnel will also be built at the Do‘rmon Yo‘li intersection.
The project is expected to reduce the average travel time along the 8-kilometer stretch from the S1 residential area to the Small Ring Road at Temur Malik Street. In particular, during peak hours, travel time is projected to fall by 25 percent, from 45 minutes to 32 minutes.

The road’s vehicle capacity could increase by 21 percent, from 98,800 to 120,000 vehicles per day.
According to the calculations, the average traffic speed is expected to rise by 25 percent, from 21 kilometers per hour to 26 kilometers per hour. Buses will run in separate dedicated lanes, and their speed is expected to increase to as much as 23 kilometers per hour.
The city administration said the active phase of the project, which has a total length of 16.2 kilometers, will last 50 to 60 days.

New parking areas will also be created along the street. Pedestrian walkways will be repaired, bicycle lanes will be laid, trees will be planted, and benches will be installed. The work will be carried out along the entire street.
In place of the trees to be relocated, an additional 8,000 hectares of green space will be created.
Earlier, it was reported that a 10-kilometer bypass road would be built in Jizzakh region to ease traffic congestion within the city.
