Man attempting to sell nearly $49,000 detained in Tashkent

A man was detained in Tashkent while attempting to sell $48,600, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
According to the report, officers of the department’s Yangihayot district branch, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, conducted an оперативe operation during which citizen A.I. was caught selling $48,600 to citizen Sh.B. for 600 million soums. During the operation, $49,900 was seized as material evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 177 of the Criminal Code (illegal acquisition or transfer of foreign currency valuables), and investigative actions are currently underway.
Earlier, authorities reported the detention of individuals engaged in the trade of counterfeit currency in Tashkent and the Namangan region.
