A father and son involved in the sale of uncertified medicines worth 3 billion soums have been detained in Tashkent, according to the State Security Service.

According to reports, the father and son, born in 1969 and 1997, had set up a hidden warehouse in their home to store medicines brought into the country through illegal channels. They were engaged in storing the drugs and distributing them to pharmacies.

During the operation, law enforcement officers searched the suspects’ home and vehicle and discovered 87 types of medicines — including Duspatalin, Novomix, and Galvus Met — mainly produced in Turkey and India. In total, 133,374 units of medicines with an estimated value exceeding 3 billion soums were seized. Authorities also found $50,000 in cash, 10.6 million soums, and bank cards belonging to 150 individuals, which were documented and confiscated as evidence.

Samples of the medicines have been sent to the Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety for examination, and a pre-investigation inquiry has been launched.

Earlier, authorities reported the detention of a 19-year-old woman in Tashkent who allegedly attempted to smuggle drugs hidden inside sweets from abroad.
