In recent days, various reports have been circulating on social media claiming that hackers have leaked the personal data of a large number of citizens. The Central Bank has stated that no cyberattack has been carried out against payment systems.
The Central Bank has urged citizens to remain vigilant. In particular, it advises:
- not clicking on unknown or suspicious links;
- not sharing bank card details, SMS codes, or passwords with anyone;
- trusting only information published by official sources;
- contacting the relevant authorities in the event of suspicious situations.
It is worth noting that on February 3, reports spread on social media claiming that the personal data of 15 million Uzbek citizens had been leaked. It was later announced that official investigations into the matter are currently under way.
As a reminder, earlier in Tashkent, individuals who attempted to illegally obtain funds stored on citizens’ plastic cards connected to banking applications through hacking attacks were detained.
