More than 60,000 teachers in Uzbekistan who have worked on improving their skills are now earning salaries of 10–12 million soums. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated this today, September 9, during a video conference dedicated to the implementation of reforms in the education sector and upcoming tasks.

’’The development of the economy, the future of our country, and our children depend solely on education and teachers. From the very first day I started working with you, I have been saying: education, education, education; teacher, teacher, teacher’’, the head of state said.

It was stated at the meeting that significant conditions have been created for teachers, including the construction and equipping of kindergartens and schools, the recruitment of foreign specialists, and the introduction of modern textbooks and curricula. These efforts, it was emphasized, will continue.

’’However, every district and regional governor, as well as the heads of kindergartens, schools, vocational colleges, and universities to whom we entrust our children, must clearly understand one truth: for our people to live well, our economy must be strong! For this, we need new products, new services, new technologies! Only through a quality education system can we achieve this. There is no other way! If a leader understands this truth and works tirelessly every day, there will certainly be change and results in their district, kindergarten, school, college, and university’’, the President noted.

It was also mentioned at the meeting that personnel must be trained in line with the investments being attracted and the newly established enterprises. Over the past period, more than ten additional allowances have been introduced for teachers’ salaries.

’’Pay attention, today, more than 60,000 teachers who have worked on improving themselves are earning 10 to 12 million soums. When has this ever happened before?’’ the President said.

Starting this month, the salaries of school principals, kindergarten directors, and their deputies have also exceeded 10 million soums. Out of 1,500 schools that have switched to the new evaluation system, 300 showed positive results, entitling their entire staff to receive up to a 40 percent allowance.

’’My earlier words to our people, that teachers’ salaries would reach $1,000, have now become a reality within three years’’, the Head of State said.

It is reported earlier that Uzbekistan is expected to transition to a 12-year school education system. This initiative was approved yesterday, September 8, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev after reviewing a presentation on reforms in the education sector.
