Uzbekistan loses to Uruguay

Today, October 13, the Uzbekistan national football team played a friendly match against Uruguay in Malaysia and suffered its first defeat under head coach Fabio Cannavaro.
The first half was fairly balanced, with both sides creating several scoring opportunities, but neither managed to open the score.
The “White Wolves” began the second half actively, yet Uruguay posed a constant threat through counterattacks. In the 51st minute, Facundo Torres put the South American side ahead. Uzbekistan tried to respond with several attacking plays, but in the 60th minute, Juan Sanabria doubled Uruguay’s lead. Finally, in the 81st minute, Ruslanbek Jiyanov scored for Uzbekistan, reducing the deficit to 1–2. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle, marking the first defeat for Uzbekistan under Italian coach Fabio Cannavaro.
Earlier, the Uzbekistan national team defeated Kuwait 2–0 in Tashkent at the “Olympia” Stadium, earning its first victory under Cannavaro’s leadership.
