Today, June 6, at 16:30, the Uzbekistan national football team, which has qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in the country’s history, will return to Tashkent from the United Arab Emirates. As part of a special celebration, the players will be presented with BYD cars as a presidential gift. This was announced by the press secretary to the President, Sherzod Asadov.

“Thousands of our compatriots are preparing to welcome our players with great honor in the capital. At the official ceremony dedicated to the national team’s historic achievement, they will be presented with BYD cars as a presidential gift,” Asadov wrote.

As reported earlier, on June 5, the Uzbekistan national team played against the United Arab Emirates in the Asian qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup. The match, held at Al-Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, ended in a 0:0 draw.

With this result, the team, led by head coach Temur Kapadze, officially secured a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match was officiated by an elite Australian referee team, with FIFA referee Sean Evans serving as the main official on the field.

This qualification marks a milestone that Uzbekistan has awaited for 34 years.

It is worth noting that following the match, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally called the team to congratulate them on their historic accomplishment. He later signed a decree awarding all team members the honorary title “Pride of Uzbekistan.”
