Uzbekistan wins 81 medals at the Asian Youth Games

On October 31, the 3rd Asian Youth Games, hosted in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, came to an end. Uzbek athletes won a total of 81 medals at the competition.
Uzbekistan’s delegation concluded its participation in the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which gathered over 4,000 young athletes from 45 Asian countries. The Uzbek team claimed 37 gold, 16 silver, and 28 bronze medals, ranking second overall behind China in the team standings.
China’s sports delegation took first place by a wide margin, earning 63 gold, 49 silver, and 35 bronze medals, totaling 147. Rounding out the top 10 were teams from Iran, Thailand, India, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, North Korea, and Chinese Taipei.
This achievement marks the best result ever for Uzbekistan at the Asian Youth Games. Previously, the country’s athletes won three bronze medals at the first edition of the Games, and one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals at the second. This time, young Uzbek athletes earned a record 81 medals.
For reference, among Uzbekistan’s neighboring countries, Tajikistan’s delegation secured 2 gold, 3 silver, and 15 bronze medals, finishing 18th overall. Kyrgyzstan ranked 21st with 1 gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze medals. Afghanistan took 24th place with 1 silver, 2 bronze, and 3 medals in total, while Turkmenistan ranked 27th with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
