Former Uzbekistan national football player passes away

Honored sportsman and coach of Uzbekistan, veteran football figure and former national team player Abdusamad Durmonov has died at the age of 61, the Uzbekistan Football Association reported.
Abdusamad Durmonov was born in 1965 in Termez, Surkhandarya region. During his playing career, he represented clubs such as “Surxon,” “Lokomotiv,” “Pakhtakor,” and “Neftchi.”
He was called up to the Uzbekistan national team between 1992 and 1994 and was part of the squad that won the 1994 Asian Games held in Japan. He ended his playing career in 2002.
After retiring as a player, Durmonov worked as a coach for clubs including “Neftchi,” “Yozyovon lochinlari,” and “Istiqlol.” Since December 2015, he had been serving as a coach at “Neftchi.”
Earlier reports also noted the passing of former “Arsenal” and “Juventus” goalkeeper Alexander Manninger at the age of 48.
