The friendly match between the national teams of Uzbekistan and Canada may be played in heavy rain. Edmonton Journal reported this.
According to the outlet, Canada’s farewell match with fans ahead of the World Cup is expected to take place in unfavourable weather conditions.
Canada’s national meteorological service raised its rainfall forecast to a yellow warning level on May 30 this year. Heavy rain is expected to begin in the evening and may continue until the morning of June 3. Between 50 and 100 millimetres of rain is forecast in the Edmonton area.
During the match between Uzbekistan and Canada, the temperature is expected to be around 9 degrees Celsius.
According to the report, one of the main questions is how the temporary natural grass pitch specially installed at Commonwealth Stadium for the match will withstand such heavy rainfall.
Uzbekistan’s national team arrived in New York on a direct flight from Tashkent on May 26 this year. The team, led by Fabio Cannavaro, will play two friendly matches ahead of its World Cup debut.
Uzbekistan will face Canada in Edmonton tomorrow, June 2, and the Netherlands in New York on June 8.
Earlier, Uzbekistan announced its 30-man squad for the World Cup.
