Uzbekistan and Tajikistan leaders sign joint statement

On March 26, following the first meeting of the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan Supreme Interstate Council, a ceremony was held to sign and exchange bilateral documents. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.

According to the report, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, signed a joint statement on expanding strategic partnership and allied relations.

In addition, a package of documents aimed at further expanding multifaceted cooperation at the level of governments, ministries, and agencies was adopted, including:

  • A program to increase trade turnover;
  • A program on industrial cooperation;
  • An agreement on the mutual application of electronic systems for certifying the origin of goods;
  • An agreement on cooperation in the healthcare sector;
  • An agreement on coordinating the use of radio frequencies in border areas;
  • A protocol on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan Investment Company;
  • An agreement on cooperation in the use of the “E-Permit” information system;
  • An agreement on scientific cooperation between the academies of sciences;
  • An action plan for implementing measures in industry and innovation for 2026–2028;
  • An action plan for implementing measures in mining and new technologies for 2026–2028;
  • An action plan for cultural cooperation for 2026–2027;
  • A roadmap for developing cooperation in tourism for 2026–2028;
  • A roadmap for further developing cooperation in the agro-industrial sector for 2026–2028;
  • Memorandums of cooperation in innovation, public service, finance, education, and the enforcement of court decisions.

Earlier, Emomali Rahmon arrived in Tashkent on a state visit. The distinguished guest was welcomed at Tashkent International Airport by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. An official welcoming ceremony for Emomali Rahmon was also held at the Kuksaroy residence.

Later, at the Kuksaroy residence, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon held talks in a narrow format and conducted the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council. The two leaders also took part in a ceremony to launch major cooperation projects.
