The pension amount for those who have served in the military for more than 30 years in Uzbekistan may be increased. This is stipulated in the draft law “On State Pension Provision for Military Personnel (Employees) and Their Family Members,” which was considered in its first reading today, April 7, at a regular session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The draft law provides for establishing, at the legislative level, the legal basis for state pension provision for military personnel and their family members, as well as improving the norms governing the conditions, types, amounts, and procedures for granting these pensions.

In particular, it is proposed to increase the share of salary taken into account when determining the base pension amount for those who have served in the military for more than 30 years from 75 percent to 100 percent. It is also planned to change the practice of calculating the base amount used for pension assignments from ten times to twelve times the base calculation amount.

Earlier, it was reported that the bonus paid to officers of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense for long years of service would be doubled. In addition, the monthly salaries of rank-and-file soldiers and sergeants serving under contract were said to be increased by 10 percent.
