From this academic year, Uzbekistan will introduce a state scholarship named after Abdulla Avloni for students of higher educational institutions specializing in pedagogy. The initiative was announced on September 8 during a presentation on education system reforms reviewed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The scholarship, which will be available to 3rd- and 4th-year bachelor’s students, is aimed at encouraging young people to pursue teaching and engage in scientific research. Until now, no separate state scholarship existed for this field.
The president also reviewed broader measures to modernize education and science. Beginning in 2026, a national competition titled “Advanced Engineering School” will be held annually among secondary schools for the President’s Prize. To strengthen natural science education, specialized schools will be created across all regions, with the Abu Ali ibn Sino school in Tashkent serving as the central model.
In addition, new higher education institutions will be established in the capital, including a branch of the N.E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, ToshTech Technical University, and the Almalyk State Technical Institute.
Plans were also presented to improve training in postgraduate education. Quotas for doctoral studies will be aligned with the country’s priority development areas. The role of the Academy of Sciences will be enhanced in advancing fundamental, applied, and innovative research and in ensuring practical application of scientific results.
President Mirziyoyev approved the proposals and signed the relevant documents, instructing responsible bodies to ensure their systematic and high-quality implementation.
It is worth noting that earlier, it was announced that a state scholarship named after Botir Zokirov would also be established in Uzbekistan.
