In Uzbekistan, special registration license plates may be introduced for ’’antique’’ cars. This is stated in the draft resolution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs titled ’’On amendments and additions to certain decisions of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at ensuring road traffic safety.’’
According to the draft, the goal is to reliably ensure the safety of road users and further increase the effectiveness of work in this area.
If adopted, starting from January 1, 2026:
- Dump trucks operating in open-pit mines (quarries) will be subject to state registration.
- In addition, special registration license plates will be introduced for freight and special vehicles of categories ’’N3’’ and ’’O4’’ with a total weight (including cargo) exceeding 44 tons, for dump trucks used in open-pit mines, as well as for ’’antique’’ cars.
- The use and re-registration of motor vehicles that are 50 years old or older will be prohibited, and such vehicles will be removed from the state register (except for ’’antique’’ vehicles).
It is also planned that, starting from March each year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, will organize a contest for the ’’Most exemplary region in ensuring road traffic safety.’’
The public discussion of this draft resolution began on September 26 of this year and will continue until October 11.
It was reported earlier that under this draft resolution, the use of motor vehicles that are 50 years old or older may be prohibited starting from January 1, 2026.
