Videos circulated on social media showing a ZIL-53 vehicle displaying the name ’’Farrukh’’ instead of its state license plate while in motion. The traffic violation was investigated by officials of the Syrdarya regional department of Internal Affairs, and the driver was subjected to measures prescribed by law, the press service of the regional Traffic Safety department reported.
According to the report, a formal protocol was drawn up for the offending driver, and the ZIL-53 vehicle was temporarily impounded at a fine parking area.
’’I knew it was a violation. We were curious to see what kind of plates could appear. I apologize and advise others not to act on their own like this,’’ the driver said.
According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 4 this year, titled ’’on measures to simplify the procedure for issuing state license plates for motor vehicles,’’ from January 1, 2026, it will be possible to use names as license plates on vehicles in Uzbekistan. From that date, based on public demand and proposals, the state unitary enterprise ’’Uzavtomotobelgi’’ will have the right to issue ’’unique’’ state license plates for motor vehicles through open electronic auctions. These plates may consist of up to six letters and/or numbers. It is stipulated that the ’’unique’’ plates must not duplicate existing state license plates and must not carry meanings that contradict legislation or ethical norms.
Earlier, a BYD vehicle was reported driving in the opposite lane and turning at an intersection while the traffic light was red. In connection with the incident, a report was drawn up under Article 128-10 (traffic violations) of the Code of Administrative Liability.
