Train ticket prices in Uzbekistan will increase by 15 percent starting from February 1 this year, Uzbekistan Railways JSC has reported.

According to the company, from February 1 ticket prices for high-speed Afrosiyob electric trains will be raised by 15 percent. The updated fares are as follows:

Tashkent–Bukhara:

  • VIP – 1,138,000 soums;
  • Business – 760,000 soums;
  • Economy – 509,000 soums.

Tashkent–Karshi:

  • VIP – 976,000 soums;
  • Business – 642,000 soums;
  • Economy – 429,000 soums.

Tashkent–Samarkand:

  • VIP – 709,000 soums;
  • Business – 455,000 soums;
  • Economy – 311,000 soums.

In addition, ticket prices for the Sharq, Nasaf, and Uzbekistan passenger trains have also been increased by 15 percent.

The company explained that the fare increase is due to rising costs for technical maintenance and spare parts for high-speed electric trains, higher electricity and operational expenses, the need to fully ensure traffic safety and continue providing services in line with international standards, the maintenance and ongoing modernization of electric train infrastructure, and the goal of delivering high-quality services to passengers.

For reference, under Presidential Resolution No. PQ-329 dated October 10, 2023, “On measures to fundamentally reform the railway transport sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” state regulation of passenger transport tariffs on high-speed and express train routes was abolished as of January 1, 2024, and replaced with a market-based pricing mechanism.

It is worth noting that train ticket prices in Uzbekistan had also increased starting from February 1, 2025. At that time, prices for VIP and Business class tickets on Afrosiyob high-speed trains rose by 25 percent, Economy class tickets increased by 20 percent, and fares for the Sharq, Nasaf, and Uzbekistan express passenger trains were raised by 30 percent.
