Uzbekistan welcomes more than 14,000 foreign students in 2025

The number of students who came to Uzbekistan from abroad to study between January and August of this year has been revealed. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.

According to the data, 14,216 students entered Uzbekistan to pursue their studies in the first eight months of this year. This is 3,179 more than in the same period last year, representing a growth rate of 28.8%.

The largest number of students came from Turkmenistan (4,603), while the smallest number came from South Africa (98).

The number of foreign students who came to Uzbekistan by country is as follows:

  •  Turkmenistan – 4,603
  •  India – 3,477
  •  Tajikistan – 1,392
  •  China – 710
  •  Pakistan – 700
  •  South Korea – 553
  •  Kyrgyz Republic – 333
  •  USA – 319
  •  Philippines – 245
  •  Turkey – 233
  •  Afghanistan – 226
  •  Egypt – 203
  •  Russia – 121
  •  Great Britain – 110
  •  South Africa – 98
  •  Other countries – 893

It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that as of the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the total number of foreign students studying in higher education institutions in Uzbekistan amounted to 12,500.
