In the first quarter of this year, remittances sent from abroad to Uzbekistan surged sharply, reaching a total of 3.3 billion U.S. dollars. This figure is outlined in the Central Bank’s “Monetary-Credit Policy” report prepared for the first quarter of this year.
According to the report, the principal factor behind the recent fluctuations in income growth in Uzbekistan has been the inflow of remittances from abroad.
Specifically, in the January–March period of 2025, remittances grew by 32%, totaling 3.3 billion dollars. This represents an increase of 800 million dollars compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
The report explains, “The high growth can be attributed to the strengthening of the currencies of major trade partners, as well as an increased flow of migrants to countries with higher wages.”
