In the second quarter of this year, Uzbek migrants sent $4.8 billion to the country. This was reported in the “Labour Market Review” published by the Central Bank.

It is noted that in the second quarter of 2025, labor migrants transferred a total of $4.8 billion to Uzbekistan, which represents a 21.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year (in the corresponding period of 2024, the growth was 38.6 percent).

"The current trend is mainly attributed to the relative stability of exchange rates in migrant-receiving countries, rising wages, and high rates of economic activity", the report stated.

At the same time, in the second quarter, significant changes were observed in the growth rates of remittances from different regions. In particular, the volume of transfers from the Baltic states, Europe, and other regions remained higher compared to other areas. Notably, remittances from the Baltic states increased significantly, up by 65.6 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, a slowdown was recorded in remittance growth from the United States, Russia, and Europe (by 10.3, 23.7, and 26.9 percent, respectively), while transfers from Asia remained stable.

Developments in external markets, particularly in Russia, Europe, and the Baltic states, as well as the growing demand for labor migrants, have played a significant role in shaping the current dynamics of remittances. This, in turn, indicates that the directions of labor migration flows are gradually expanding.

It is worth noting that earlier, a World Bank study on migration issues in Europe and Central Asia noted that without remittances from migrants, the poverty rate in Uzbekistan could rise from 6.9 percent to 16.8 percent.
